How to use the Brag Sheet Template:
Fill it out thoughtfully, then attach it when you email your teacher to request a letter. It gives them context, direction, and details they can’t get just from your transcript.

1. Why did you choose this teacher to write a letter for you?
What stood out about your experience in their class or mentorship? Mention any key moments or projects that built your relationship.
2. What did you enjoy most about this class or activity?
Share at least two two specific examples (discussions, labs, essays, team projects, etc.) that excited or challenged you.
3. What are your proudest contributions in this class or setting?
Be specific. Did you help a classmate? Take initiative in a project? Improve significantly?
4. Have you done anything related to this subject outside of class?
Mention enrichment experiences, independent research, hobbies, jobs, or summer programs related to the subject.
5. How have you grown as a student during your time with this teacher?
Describe how your study habits, confidence, or curiosity have changed.
6. What three words would you want this teacher to use to describe you?
For each word, give a short, vivid example of when you demonstrated that trait.
7. What motivates you academically or personally?
What drives you to learn, improve, or lead?
8. What are your college goals? What do you hope to study and why? How have you explored this interest either inside or outside the classroom?
Briefly explain why you want to go to college and what you hope to study or pursue.
9. What do you hope to do after college? How does this match with your intended major?
What’s your dream impact, career, or way of contributing to your community or field?
10. Which of your activities/accomplishments are you the most proud of and why?
This is optional, but include it if there’s something from your activity list that you’d like your recommender to know about or highlight in their recommendation.
11. Are there any personal stories or background details that could help your teacher understand you better?
This is optional, but can be helpful if there’s something meaningful about your identity, challenges, or journey you want to share.
12. Is there anything else you'd like to remind your teacher to include?
Mention any awards, projects, leadership roles, or defining moments you’d love for them to highlight.
13. Which colleges will you be applying to? When are their deadlines?
Specify your college list, even if it’s not finalized yet. Make sure to note which colleges you’ll be applying to during the EA/ED round and which colleges you’ll be applying to during the RD round. Include all relevant application deadlines.
